1) Minutes of the 2006 AGM The minutes of the 2006 AGM were agreed and recognised as a true reflection of the meeting
2) Matters arising It was discussed whether the President should be elected annually, in keeping with the election of all the other officers on the Isis CC committee. The Chairman ruled that as this was a constitutional change, this would have to be discussed when dealing with the section on the constitution.
3) Chairman’s report The Chairman congratulated the club on another fantastic year, and paid particular attention to welcoming the new players that Isis recruited during the season. The Chairman also thanked the officials behind the scene, highlighting the important work that they do to ensure the club runs smoothly.
4) Captain’s report The Captain delivered his season’s report which can be viewed here
5) Treasurer’s report Overall, the Treasurer reported a surplus profit carried forward of £251.89 in the 2007 season. The following were also reported by the Treasurer: · That considering the poor summer weather in 2007, the surplus profit was an impressive figure · That increasing the match fees undoubtedly helped create the surplus profit figure · That there were 28 paid members of Isis CC in 2007 · That in the 2008 season, there will not be required the same amount of kit to be purchased as in the 2007 season · That as of 2008, the ground rent at Queens College will be raised from £900 to £1100 per year. All other conditions remain as existing, and that this arrangement secures Queens College as the official home venue for Isis CC until 2014. That the monetary assets of Isis CC are the following: £1,525 held in a deposit account £1,067.67 held in a current account
6) Fixture Secretary’s report The Fixture Secretary delivered his season’s report which can be viewed here Proposal (Nick Wyatt): Discuss a friendly midweek/weekend mini-league following the success of this season’s Friendly Cup. It was agreed by all that the Fixture Secretary would discuss the idea with other selected teams of the Fixture Secretary’s choosing during the close season. Proposal (Nick Wyatt): To play an annual Chairman’s XI v Captain’s XI match. A vote was taken and the proposal was passed unanimously.
10) 2007 awards The following awards were announced: · Bowler award (most wickets in the season) – Nick Wyatt · Long handle batsman award (most runs in season) – Richard Stevenson · Catching award (most catches in season) – Olly Walter · Big hit award (by vote at AGM) – Lester Whitby · Fielder award (best all-round fielder and by vote at AGM) – Paul Jacobs and Brendan Lewis split vote – therefore shared award · Player of the season (by vote at AGM) – Richard Stevenson · Clubman of the season (by vote at AGM) – Paul Jacobs · Duck award, formerly the Postman Prat award (by vote at AGM) – Richard Stoneman (for being the driver responsible for missing the ferry on the way home from the 2007 tour to Ireland)
11) Election of Committee The following were elected to the committee for the 2008 season: · President – Honorary role as of 3 years ago – Ray Cherry · Chairman – Keith Ponsford. Proposed KW, seconded NW · Captain – Nick Wyatt. Proposed OW, seconded PJ · Vice-Captains – Paul Jacobs and Lester Whitby. Proposed PW, seconded KW · Treasurer – Pete Wiblin. Proposed KP, seconded RS · Fixture Secretary – Keith Whiter. Proposed JW, seconded NW · Secretary – Olly Walter. Proposed NW, seconded DJ
12) Club membership/match fees Club membership: It was proposed by LW that the club membership should continue to be £25 (or £10 for students, unemployed and those joining the club with 10 games or less of the season remaining). Proposal seconded by KW – motion passed
Midweek match fee: £4. Proposed KW, seconded OW. Motion passed.
Weekend match fee: £5. Proposed KW, seconded JH. Motion defeated.
Weekend match fee: £6. Proposed PW, seconded LW. Motion passed.
13) Isis 2008 tour KW proposed a 2008 tour to Amsterdam – motion defeated Proposal by various for a UK tour – motion passed KW offered to review costs and make preliminary enquiries into a UK tour for Isis CC in 2008.
14) Kit – review for coming season The following was deemed necessary to invest in: · 2 pairs of right handed batting glove · Cricket balls for the forthcoming season – Captain to advise on quantity
Proposal: (Lester Whitby): That the Secretary purchase the necessary equipment before costs go up too high nearing the season – seconded by JW – motion passed.
15) Update of contacts for all players – full set of contact email addresses, mailing addresses and telephone numbers needed for the Secretary
16) AOB The following items were discussed and agreed on: · NW proposed that, due to the difficulties of sorting out teams for a high amount of fixtures, all members provide to the Captain one form of preferred contact that the Captain can use for each individual player with regard to player availability. It was eventually agreed that the Captain and the Secretary would be responsible for finding out each individual member’s preferred form of contact. It was agreed that paid-up members would always get preference in terms of selection to non paid individuals. It was agreed that PW would regularly forward to the Captain a full and up to date list of paid-up members · OW raised the poor standard and potential hazard of the drain cover in the outfield at Stanton St John cricket ground, which we often play at. It was agreed that the Secretary, OW would write to Stanton St John asking them to review the state of the drain cover. · HS would provide OW with details of the Magdalen College cricket nets · It was agreed that RS (Richard Stevenson) would look into the issue of insurance, and report back to the Chairman of the club during the close season. · It was agreed that there would be a Isis Christmas get-together, and that OW would make the necessary arrangements and inform all members. |
